SACEDÓNNature, heritage and experiences by the Entrepeñas reservoir

Virgen del Socorro

Starting from the Tourist Information Office, the route meanders through the streets of Sacedón before leading out of town up a steep street going west. After quickly ascending, the dirt track takes you through several olive groves before becoming a narrow path that carries on for nearly 2 kilometres. Pay attention to stay on the route of the footpath as it is interrupted by fields at some points.

When you reach the aerials at the highest point of the route, the path starts going down again and takes you to the shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. The shrine is located at a viewpoint over the waters of the Tagus River, the Bolarque Reservoir, Anguix Castle and the Alcarria. The shrine houses an altarpiece with a carving of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, the patron saint of the town.

From here on the route back alternates between a track and a path until you join the outward route again. Once you join this route, all you need to do is double back the way you came.

One of the clearest and most beautiful examples of the presence of the Cistercian order in the Iberian Peninsula.

Built in 1461, it crosses the Tagus River and connects the municipal districts of Auñón and Sacedón.

Ruins of an old spa, which then became a psychiatric hospital. These ruins were submerged, but are now above water again.
